Alan R. Cohen

ALAN R. COHEN, MD, the Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D. and Dr. Evelyn Spiro, R.N. Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery and director of the Johns Hopkins Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery, is a leader in developing minimally invasive techniques to enhance the safety and efficacy of selected pediatric neurosurgical procedures. His laboratory focuses on new instruments and techniques for minimally invasive surgery. He has authored 170 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and published two textbooks.

Dr. Cohen is president-elect of the Society of Neurological Surgeons, immediate past president of the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons, and a director of the American Board of Neurosurgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery.
