Andrew Cherlin

CherlinAndrewANDREW CHERLIN, the Benjamin H. Griswold III Professor of Public Policy, is a sociologist whose research focuses on the sociology of the family and social demography, with particular emphasis on public policy issues, such as the effects of family changes and welfare policy on the well-being of children. He has received the Distinguished Career Award from the Family Section of the American Sociological Association and a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. Dr. Cherlin is the author or co-author of five books and more than 60 scholarly articles and has given expert testimony before the U.S. Congress. He joined the Hopkins faculty in 1976.
