Arturo Casadevall

Casadevall.Arturo ARTURO CASADEVALL, MD, PhD, MS, is the second Alfred and Jill Sommer Professor and Chair in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. His ground breaking work in the field of infectious diseases is widely known and evidenced by his receipt of several of the highest honors in the fields of medicine and health including being appointed to the Institute of Medicine, elected to the American College of Physicians, and awarded an NIH Merit Award. Dr. Casadevall has defined much of what we know about fungal pathogenesis and has pioneered the use of radioimmunotherapeutic strategies for the control of systemic fungal and other infections. He has served as member and Chair of NIH study sections, NIAID’s Board of Scientific Counselors and many others, and is currently the Founding Editor and Editor in Chief of mBio. He has published over 617 scientific papers and 33 book chapters. Dr. Casadevall is also a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine.
