Chia-Ling Chien

CHIA-LING CHIEN, the Jacob L. Hain Professor in Arts and Sciences, directs the Material Research Science and Engineering Center where he does research in condensed matter physics and especially nanostructured materials. A faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy since 1976, he has written more than 350 journal articles and holds several patents. He is one of the ISI’s 1120 most cited physicists. Dr. Chien has been awarded honorary professorships at Nanjing, Lanzhou, and Fudan universities in China, and is a fellow of the American Physical Society. He was also the recipient of the 2004 David Adler Award of the American Physical Society and was recognized for the 2005 IEEE Magnetics Society Distinguished Lectureship.
