Christopher J. Abularrage

AbularrageChristopherCHRISTOPHER J. ABULARRAGE, the Bertram Bernheim Research Professor of Surgery, is an associate professor of surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery. He also serves as the Director of the Diabetic Foot and Wound Clinic. Dr. Abularrage’s commitment to diabetic vascular disease and limb salvage is unparalleled. He is a member of the Johns Hopkins Diabetes Initiative steering committee and leads the Complications Group, one of the five main program groups. In this role, Dr. Abularrage has brought together clinicians from multiple specialties across all Hopkins affiliate hospitals and Johns Hopkins Community Physicians in an effort to strengthen collaborations within the Hopkins system.

Dr. Abularrage is an active clinical researcher and has spearheaded the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy’s outcomes research. His commitment to research has been recognized by the Department of Surgery where he has been named to the Core Faculty of the Center for Surgical Trials and Outcomes Research. He serves as a peer-reviewer for several surgical journals and has earned the rare recognition of “Distinguished Reviewer” by the Journal of Vascular Surgery, a group from which future Editorial Board members are selected.
