Janice E. Clements

ClementsJaniceJANICE E. CLEMENTS, the inaugural Mary Wallace Stanton Professor for Faculty Affairs, was appointed vice dean for faculty affairs of the School of Medicine in 1999 and is the first director of comparative medicine. She is professor of comparative medicine, neurology and pathology, with a joint appointment in molecular biology and genetics. She also directs the Retrovirus Laboratory, where her substantial research program focuses on the mechanisms of retroviruses, such as HIV, that use their RNA as a launching pad to incorporate themselves into cells’ genetic material. Dr. Clements joined the faculty in 1978.
