Karl D. Jackson

JacksonKarlKARL D. JACKSON is the C.V. Starr Distinguished Professor of Southeast Asia Studies. Before joining the faculty in 1995, he served as special assistant to the president for National Security Affairs and senior director for Asian Affairs at the National Security Council. Dr. Jackson has also served as assistant to the vice president for National Security Affairs. From 1986 to 1989, he served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for East Asia. Dr. Jackson is the author of Traditional Authority, Islam and Rebellion: A Study of Indonesian Political Behavior and has edited and co-edited many books, including Asian Contagion: The Causes and Consequences of a Financial Crisis.
