Lewis C. Becker

LEWIS C. BECKER, A&S 1962, Med 1966, the Robert L. Levy Professor of Cardiology, is the co-director of the GeneSTAR Genetic Research Program in General Internal Medicine. In 2011 he received the Distinguished Fellowship Award of the International Academy of Cardiology at its opening sessions in Vancouver, BC, for his “profound contribution to international cardiovascular medicine and science.”

Dr. Becker’s research focuses on myocardial infarction and other cardiovascular diseases and injury; he studies siblings of parents with premature heart attack. The author of more than 200 scientific articles and book sections, Dr. Becker is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and a founding member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He joined the faculty in 1974.
