Mario A. Eisenberger

MARIO A. EISENBERGER, the inaugural R. Dale Hughes Professor in Oncology, came to Hopkins in 1993 and holds joint appointments in the departments of Urology and Oncology. One of the leading authorities in the world on prostate cancer, Dr. Eisenberger developed the James Stine Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Office, a data-management office and serum repository for patients receiving treatment in clinical trials at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Eisenberger is leading efforts to develop new drug and chemotherapy combinations to address prostate and urological cancers. He was born and educated in Brazil, and continued his training in the United States, serving with the National Cancer Institute and at the University of Maryland Cancer Center where he worked on the forefront of therapeutic research for urologic cancer.
