Ralph P. Tufano
RALPH P. TUFANO, MD, MBA, FACS, the Charles W. Cummings, M.D. Professor, directs the Division of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery. An internationally renowned head and neck endocrine surgeon, Dr. Tufano’s clinical interests include tailored and novel approaches to thyroid and parathyroid disease treatment, surgery for nodal disease in thyroid cancer and re-operative surgery for thyroid cancer recurrence. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Tufano has also helped to define the role of the BRAF mutation in determining the extent of surgery and prognosis for patients with thyroid cancer. He is currently the Chair of the Endocrine Surgery Committee in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is a much sought after speaker on the surgical management of thyroid and parathyroid disease.
