William T. Rowe

RoweWilliamWILLIAM T. ROWE, the John and Diane Cooke Professor of Chinese History and chairman of the History Department, specializes in modern East Asian history, an interest he developed during his military service in that region. Dr. Rowe, who joined the Hopkins faculty in 1982, has written five books, the most recent of which, Crimson Rain: Seven Centuries of Violence in a Chinese Country, was published in 2007. He is currently working on History of Imperial China, Vol. 6: The Qing Period. He also serves on the editorial boards of several scholarly journals.
