Bessie Darling Massey Chair in Biomedical Engineering
BESSIE DARLING MASSEY and her husband, J. Alan Massey, owned the Hamilton Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. Mrs. Massey, a patient of Hopkins physician JOHN E. BORDLEY, Med 1929, honored him with the creation of this professorship. Dr. Bordley was director of the Department of Otolaryngology from 1952 to 1969, with a joint appointment at the School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Dr. Bordley died in 1993 at the age of 90.
The chair also honors Bessie Darling Massey’s father, EDWARD GALBREATH DARLING.
