The Stephen and Jean Robinson Professorship for Eating Disorders

STEVE and JEAN ROBINSON married in 1989. Jean is a native of the Baltimore area and Steve, a native of Oklahoma. Together they spent the next 25 years raising their three daughters in Howard County, coaching and supporting them in soccer, basketball, high school musicals and the Future Business Leaders of America.

Steve and Jean started a business in Howard County in 1989 and built the company into a successful international franchise. After selling the business in 2014, they moved closer to Steve’s parents in Dallas, Texas. Although they spend most of their time in Texas, the Robinsons maintain their home in Maryland and spend summers in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

Jean enjoys volunteering for many causes and, in 2014, created a foundation called Because It’s You to support these efforts. Jean serves on the advisory council of Share Our Strength, a hunger relief organization, where she worked for 11 years and on the advisory board of the Johns Hopkins Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She also enjoys traveling, reading and cooking.

Steve spends most of his time managing his farms in South Dakota and Texas where he raises some of the best cattle and horses in the country. Customers travel from as far away as Australia to purchase his cattle genetics. Steve is also pursuing new business ventures as well as consulting for other business owners.

Steve and Jean’s biggest joy in life, however, is spending time with family and friends—especially their three girls—and they feel lucky that two of their three daughters reside in Dallas. Their oldest daughter, a graduate of Georgetown University, is starting her career as an emergency nurse in Methodist Charlton Medical Center. Their youngest daughter is a student at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Their middle daughter is graduating in May with a BS in Advertising and Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and will remain in NYC.
