Bayard Halsted Professorship in Cell Biology

Established in 1943 by the estate of Edward Bayard Halsted

EDWARD BAYARD HALSTED was a longtime friend of the university and cousin of famed Hopkins surgeon William Halsted. Mr. Halsted had been a stockbroker in New York City. His generous bequest, according to the terms of his estate, was to “be forever devoted to research work for the advancement of knowledge as to the nature, causes, means of prevention, and cure of such maladies…in need of further study and investigation.”
