JOHN A. ADAMS is an economist, author, and historian with a notable background in both the corporate and historical fields. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University in 1970 and an M.S. in Management from the University of Rochester in 1972. Adams worked as a corporate economist in the airline industry and later served as president of two aviation and financial consulting firms in Colorado—Talon Resources and Strategic Planning, Inc.
In addition to his professional work, Adams was an avid historian with a deep interest in the Cold War and naval strategy. He authored If Mahan Ran the Great Pacific War: An Analysis of World War II Naval Strategy, combining strategic analysis with historical study. A former student of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), he later established the John A. Adams ’71 Center for Military History and Strategic Analysis at VMI, supporting research and scholarship in military history.
