Louis M. Sardella Professorship in the Whiting School of Engineering

Whiting School of Engineering

Established in 2021 by the estate of Louis M. Sardella

LOUIS M. SARDELLA, Engr 1969, was the founder of Sun Automation Group, an international company that manufactures machinery used in corrugated box production. Mr. Sardella, who held 17 patents, traced his success back to his undergraduate years at Hopkins. “Professors challenged us and taught us to think critically, and it opened up the world for me.”

Mr. Sardella passed away in January 2020. He was a longtime supporter of the Whiting Engineering School, serving as a member of the National Advisory Council, and in 1999 endowed the Sardella Scholarship Fund in gratitude for the assistance he received as an undergraduate.

Held by Tza-Huei (Jeff) Wang

TZA-HUEI (JEFF) WANG, Ph.D., is a professor in mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University, where he has served as faculty since 2002. He is the principal investigator for the BioMEMS and Single Molecule Dynamics Lab. Wang earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering from UCLA in 2002. His research sits at the intersection of the development of new technologies for molecular analysis and biomedical research, microfluidics, single molecule manipulation and detection, and nano/micro scale fabrication. He holds 36 patents and has authored more than 150 journal articles.
